APPROACHING GOD

Welcome

We acknowledge that the land upon which we gather is unceded Mi’kmaq territory. Epekwitk (Prince Edward Island) is covered by the historic Treaties of Peace and Friendship. We pay our respects to the Indigenous Mi’kmaq People who have occupied this Island for over 12,000 years; past, present and future.

Preparation for Worship:

Lighting of the Christ Candle: Phoebe Swart

*Introit #30MV:“It’s a Song of Praise to the Maker” (vs 1, ch)

Call to Worship:

One: Shhh, did you notice that?
All: People are talking, whispering, laughing…
One: That too, but more…
All: There’s the hum of electricity, the speakers, instruments ready to break out into song.
One: That too, but more… a vibration.
All: Hey, do you feel that?
One: I feel a bit chilly, I feel thirsty…
All: That too, but more…
One: I feel a bit nervous in front of all these people…
All: That too, but more… a presence. God is here!
One: That’s it! God is here!
All: That’s it! God, the vibration, presence, in us, through us, around us, God is here! Let’s celebrate!

*Hymn #30MV:“It’s a Song of Praise to the Maker” (vs 2, ch, vs 3, ch, vs 4, ch)

Peace. Peace in our hearts. Peace in our homes. Peace with justice in our church, community, and world. Amen.

Affirming Ministry: Our Affirming Ministry team is beginning to work toward Trinity becoming an Affirmed Ministry and we are learning! Did you know that being welcoming is more than saying we welcome everyone? It’s putting to work what we have already said we do. We have an accessible entrance, restroom, elevator and pews for those who need them. We are scent-free for those who have allergies. We have a headset if there was someone in the congregation hard of hearing that doesn’t already have hearing aids.
