Appointment of a supply minister: Trinity is pleased to announce the appointment of Rev Bill MacLeod as a supply minister. He will be working part time starting Oct 11 with emphasis on worship and pastoral care. Although he will not be starting until Oct, he has offered to preach at Trinity on September 13th. Rev Bill MacLeod has an impressive resume. He began his ministry in 1973. His first call was to Plaster Rock -Grand Falls Pastoral Charge where he stayed from 1973 to 1976. Since then he has served at various charges, in PEI, NS, and NB. He has served in various positions – minister of pastoral care and worship, managing pastoral care in hospitals, established a Clinical Pastor Education program, served as an intentional interim minister on many occasions, as well as transitional ministry, hospital chaplain, and supply minister. He currently is a Chaplain with the RCMP and is a casual employee with Health PEI as a Spiritual Care Clinician.

Congregational meeting – August 30: There will be a congregational meeting for Trinity United Church, Summerside, on Sunday, August 30, 2026 following the in person worship. The congregational meeting is called to share the Community of Faith Profile, including position description for a Coordinating minister, thank the Community of Faith Profile team, share next steps and appoint the search team. The Community of Faith profile and Meeting Agenda will be available Sunday, August 23, 2026.
Communications Volunteers Needed: We are seeking new people to learn the slides program for Sunday mornings. The program is called Easy Worship and there are some videos on YouTube that you could watch to see if this would be something you would be interested in learning. We are also looking for live-streaming volunteers in order to support the Worship services at Trinity. Food Bank: We are averaging about 50 boxes per month here in our Food Bank. Every bit of support helps! We gratefully accept non-perishable food donations, cash donations and we also invite you to donate your cans/bottles to Don’s Bottle Depot.

Affirming Ministry: Our Affirming Ministry project is working toward Trinity becoming an Affirmed Ministry and we are learning! Affirming Ministries are not gay churches or single-issue communities. They work on a variety of justice issues. They know that the work of healing and justice-making, of being the church, is an ongoing part of who they are, whether they strive to combat racism or work to make their buildings wheelchair-accessible, as they attend anti-poverty marches or seek to live out the United Church’s apology on residential schools; when they honour children and provide space for addiction support groups.
