Side Walk Painting Continuing Youth Initiative –

At the June 2022 meeting of the Trinity Council some youth brought forward an idea to create a space at the entrance of the main doors of the sanctuary to show witness. To pause and to listen. Over the weekend youth came together to create their second vision of this place of witness.
This pavement painting done in September 2022 is to recognize Truth and Reconciliation.  The youth worked on other ways to learn about Truth and Reconciliation including the sharing the 94 calls of action each week at church.
Thank you to the Chair of the Christian Life & Growth Team, Sandee MacLean, fellow Team Member – Gwyn Richards, our Engagement & Communications Coordinator – Hannah Collicutt, and all the youth who took part. We hope your amazing work will help us to pause, to listen and to be in a place of witness.
In November 2022 the youth painted the walkway to reflect on the season of Advent in the United Church Faith community. They learned about what each color represents. Sadly due to the cold weather, the paint did not dry and was washed away.
In July of 2023 the youth painted a different section of the sidewalk as the Progress Pride Flag. Due to this, we now have two wonderful sidewalk murals to help spread awareness. The Pride Flag serves as a reminder that everyone is welcome in the church.

On December 16-17, 2023 some of Trinity’s Youth shopped for and wrapped gifts for children in the community, these will be distributed for the holiday season!
