Program Coordinator For Children & Youth

Hello! My name is Gwyn Richards, I was born and raise in Houston, Texas.  In Texas, I was brought up in a very large Episcopal Church that always had a great children and youth program, which encouraged me to pursue my dreams of working with children and youth in church.  I attended Bethany Bible College (now Kingswood University) in Sussex, NB and received my B.A in Christian School Education with a minor in music in 2004.  Following graduation, I taught for a few years in a small Christian School in Houston.

Along with my husband Chris and our 4 daughters, Gabriella, Alina, Nicola and Annika, I live right here in Summerside. Our girls are involved in various activities in the community. While Chris likes to keep to himself, our girls, for the most part, are very out going and like to get involved in as much as they can.  They keep us on our toes.

My hope for the youth and children at Trinity is simple. I hope for nothing more than the very best for each and every child that comes through these doors.  Our Sunday school program is open to anyone that would like to join in, even if you are only here for one Sunday.  We use a rotation curriculum, which allows the children to learn the Bible stories in various ways.  When researching rotation Sunday school, I read on multiple occasions how much more children learn in this model.  We spend about 4 weeks in a rotation, so the children learn the same story for 4 weeks, but they learn it in different ways.  We have lessons in Science, Cooking, Arts & Crafts, Bible Skills and Games, Drama & Music, but do not have all of these options for every lesson.

I consider myself to be a crafty person, and I blame my mom for that.  I grew up helping her with all the crafty things she does.  I am not afraid to get my hands dirty, and just have fun.  I enjoy baking with my daughters on snow days and playing cards when the power goes out.

I look forward to the days ahead, and the things to come!
